Hoof Neglect
Many donkey owners have a fear of getting kicked. This prevents them from ever working with the donkeys to pick up their feet for a ferrier. Most ferriers refuse to work on donkeys that won't pick up their feet. The result is horribly overgrown hooves that can lead to permanent injury.

At Peaceful Valley, many of the wild burro cannot
handle having their legs touched. We the time comes to trim their
hooves, we call in the whole team and go to work. The burros are
moved into the holding equipment, given a suitable level of sedation and
then the trimming begins.
