Moms & Babies 1
“It takes a village to raise a child” also holds true in the donkey world. Most of the wild jennets that come into our rescue arrive pregnant. While we do not do any breeding, gentlemen please leave your testicles at the door, donkeys are very active breeders in the wild. All of the moms from our various capture and rescue projects from each year are grouped together. These groups remain together to help each other with protection from predators as well as teaching the young “herd” behavior. All of the young jacks are castrated as soon as possible and then returned to the herd for healing and comfort. Moms and Babies 1 are from our 2005/2006 capture and rescue programs.
