UPDATE:
Abner's wound wasn't healing properly and an X-ray found another piece
of wire (less than 1/2 long). This was removed and the leg looks
much better. He still does not have total use of the leg and
tendon damage is suspected.
UPDATE:
We stopped in the Vet Hospital to check on Lil Abner Tuesday morning.
They were able to remove the wire (see the picture). It was
wrapped around his lower leg and then twisted together. The leg
still had circulation so he will be OK. Not sure if he will have
full use of the leg though.

Lil Abner is a one year old, un-castrated mule that has a wire wrapped around the the lower part of his right leg. He is currently at the Vet Hospital in San Angelo, TX where they are trying to remove the embedded wire and save his leg.
The wire has cut through the hide and muscle but we do not know whether or not there is tendon, ligament or even permanent bone damage.
We will keep this site updated as information becomes available.
