Our Aviary
Bird products are found everywhere, from our bedding to our dinner
tables. Most people feel that chicken is a healthy alternative to
red meat, most have never consulted a chicken.
Chickens in factory farms live in deplorable conditions and are fed antibiotic laden feeds. The antibiotics are necessary because of the disease transmitted by the rancid conditions that the chickens are kept. Laying hens are usually kept in small battery cages and have their beaks seared off with a hot razor. This is dome to prevent them from pecking each other because of stress.
The
birds of Peaceful Valley have a better life then most. They have a
nice, comfortable house. A big yard that is protected from
predators. And it is in the setting that visitors to our sanctuary
can see the personality that chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys have.
They are not stupid creatures that are unaware of their existence.

- Most people have heard the myth that turkeys are so stupid they will look up during a rain storm and drown. This is totally untrue and was propagated by the turkey industry to justify eating such an intelligent animals.

- Turkeys spend 6 months locked in cramped, dark sheds prior to slaughter.
