Sheldon Antelope Refuge, NV

At the very top of Nevada, Highway 140 connects Adel, OR to Winnemucca, NV.  The speed limit on this highway is 70 miles per hour and their are many dips in the road, especially where it crosses the Sheldon Antelope Refuge.  The wild burros that live in the Sheldon like to stand in these dips at night.  This is a dangerous situation for travelers and burros alike.

Peaceful Valley has been involved with this project for many years and has removed over a hundred burros.  Devin Kerley, our Medical Director and Adoption Coordinator, recently returned from a capture with 30 more burros.  After they have cleared medical, they will be transfered to our Texas facility and prepared for adoption.
